Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. is not well behaved. It is messy, silly, and deadly serious. Examining the language, behaviour and forces that shape women in the 21st century, it asks what's stopping us from doing something truly radical to change them.
What makes this event unique?
Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. is the first show to showcase the Barron’s new potential as an unconventional space - by pushing in the seating rack and staging our show thrust-style. We can also guarantee no other show during OTR features 5000 rose petals.
Why did you choose your venue?
The Barron is a theatre which is often written off as a staple of St Andrews’ theatre - we want to show people that, with a bit of innovation, it can be so much more, and can feel like a totally different space.
Share a hilarious backstage/behind the scenes story.
Teaching one of the men in the cast to apply liquid lipstick – both quick drying liquid and matte lipstick - was both messy and entertaining.
What was the inspiration behind putting on this event/show?
We wanted a show which was completely different to what St Andrews normally offers - Revolt does that. Challenging social conventions while remaining interesting and entertaining is hard to do, but Birch’s script brought all this to the table. It also offered a relatively blank canvas in terms of set, costume, and staging - we just wanted to have some fun!
What should people be looking for?
When you enter the theatre - look up.
What challenges have you faced?
Clingfilm is flimsier than we anticipated.
What three words best sum up your show?
She Said Revolt.
